May 31, 2005
Tuesday, May 31st, 2005I’m starting with this entry to let you all know on a weekly basis what’s up with my movies, various projects and action figures! I guess it’s my blog as well as a way to communicate and answer so many questions that are coming to me over the net. So here’s what’s going on: I started Wizard Entertainment with the help of a financial partner about 7 months ago. I’ve managed to direct 4 movies so far with 4 more scheduled to shoot between now an the end of 2005. For the first time in my crazy career I will be able to devote myself 100% to the creative - and will continue to direct all or most of the movies. Concurrent with the features Wizard Toys will be creating and marketing a new line of action figures. They will be very limited editions - in most cases numbered and signed. The first three releases will be available in August and will feature “Marvin” the lurid, depraved homunculus from our first Wizard feature, DECADENT EVIL and Blade and Tunneler from the original Puppetmaster. The sculps on these new puppets are amazing and to tie this into the series in a meaningful way we will produce a limited signed and numbered run of 1,990 units. 1990 was the year the first Puppetmaster was released!!!
Last week I completed directing DOLL GRAVEYARD - I’m very happy with the way it turned out. I worked with some very talented young actors along with x4 extremely nasty dolls. You can check out some early footage at fullmoondirect.com - This week I will be concentrating on the final stages of post production of my film, THE GINGERDEADMAN as well as making sure everything goes well with the DVD authoring and replication for DECADENT EVIL. (Decadent will be available at local retail stores at the end of June.) I’m also approving the final sculpts and packaging for the first 3 Wizard Toys releases - I hope to have some images up in about one week. And we’re preparing to attend the Fangoria Convention here in LA June 4-5th. I’ll be signing and saying hello to anyone who comes to visit our table between 1:00 and 3:00PM both days. Phil Fondocaro will also be there signing on Saturday (3:00-5:00.)
And if this week isn’t crazy enough I’m going to see my son Alex perform at the Silverton in Las Vegas this Friday. He’s the lead singer of The Calling and has already had several #1 hits! Well - that’s enough for the moment! I will do my best to tell you what’s going on every week!
